Also known as Kyiv-Pechery Lavra, this monastery is one of the oldest Orthodox Monasteries in Russia. It was founded in the mid-11th century by monk Antonii in the caves (this is the old russian word pechery) of the hilly right bank of the Dnipro.

This complex of churches, bell tower, museums, monks residences, and tombs is facinating. Towards the bottom of the complex are buildings that guard the entrance to tombs where
